WHO WE ARE

Evolving from Crisis Response to Proactive Systemic Change

Uptime Alliance transitions global healthcare systems from reactive pandemic-era hardware procurement to resilient, evidence-led health technology management systems.

OUR EVOLUTION

The Narrative Journey

01 // 2021 Origin vaccines

The Oxygen Alliance

We started in 2021 as the Oxygen Alliance to keep oxygen systems running during COVID-19. Our immediate focus centered on the urgent clinical crisis of non-functional oxygen systems in low- and middle-income countries.

02 // Realization warning

A Systemic Challenge

But the data showed us a larger problem: across all departments, critical medical devices were sitting idle due to a lack of spare parts, limited maintenance capacity, and competing national priorities.

03 // Shift loop

The Uptime Alliance

We became Uptime Alliance to address this root cause. As Uptime Alliance, we build the local engineering capacity and systemic infrastructure needed to keep all essential healthcare equipment functional long-term.

MISSION & VALUES

Elevating the Biomedical Engineer to a Clinical Hero

format_quote

We know the extreme challenges technicians face daily, working to keep vital systems running without adequate institutional support. For too long, they have been asked to do the impossible. We exist to stand behind these local leaders of healthcare resilience, providing the tools, recognition, and policy backing they need to perform their critical work.

track_changes Our Mission

We help health systems keep essential medical equipment functional when patients need it. Uptime Alliance, formerly Oxygen Alliance, is a non-profit strengthening biomedical engineering and health technology management across low- and middle-income countries. We bring field assessment, professional education, advocacy, and technology together under one roof, so trained engineers, sound systems, and supportive policy keep equipment working and patients cared for.

visibility Our Vision

No patient dies because their medical equipment was broken, and no one was trained, equipped, or supported to fix it. Because uptime is not just a metric. It is the difference between a device sitting idle and a clinician delivering care, the engineer at the bench helping save the life at the bedside.

COMP-TOC-05 // CHANGE ENGINE

How Our Work Leads to Better Health

A reinforcing cycle of evidence, capacity, and policy. We operate as a neutral convener, aligning stakeholders, mobilizing financial resources, and catalyzing change.

01 // THE INPUT (IF)

Biomeds are supported by effective maintenance systems, data, financing, procurement processes, infrastructure, and policy environments.

02 // THE OUTPUT (THEN)

Health technologies remain functional, enabling clinicians to deliver care.

03 // THE IMPACT (THEREFORE)

Preventable deaths from non-functional equipment are eliminated.

Our Role as Systems Partner

Rather than working in isolated silos, we convene Ministries of Health, device manufacturers, academic institutions, and local technicians under one roof, facilitating alignment across five continuous enablers:

hub

Partnerships & Networks

Convening stakeholders under a shared, vendor-neutral structure.

gavel

Country Ownership

Embedding workflows into government-led systems.

analytics

Data & Evidence

Guiding decision-making and capital allocation with ground-truth data.

engineering

Workforce

Continuous professional training and mentorship paths for BMEs.

payments

Sustainable Finance

Advocating for recurring maintenance budgets, not just procurement.
